Do I need a Visa to enter the Cayman Islands?

Visitors to the Cayman Islands must possess a valid passport. Visitors should refer to Immigration Cayman Islands to confirm Visa requirements.

What is the time zone for the Cayman Islands?

The Cayman Islands on Eastern Standard Time (EST).

What is the currency of the Cayman Islands and what forms of currency are accepted?

The Cayman Islands has its own currency which is the Cayman Islands dollar. CI$1.00 converts to US$1.25 or, the US dollar equals CI $.80. Cayman stores accept US or CI cash, travelers checks and most major credit cards. There is no sales tax in the Cayman Islands.

How far is it from Lacovia to dining and shopping?

Our enviable location on Seven Mile Beach puts many great dining and shopping options right within walking distance. Also, the grocery store is just a 1/4 mile away.

Can I use ATMs?

Most bank machines accept foreign debit and credit cards, but it’s a good idea to check with your home bank before arriving.

What is the approximate taxi fare from Owen Roberts Airport to Seven Mile Beach?

Travel from Owen Roberts Airport to Lacovia for 1-3 passengers will cost CI$22, plus 1/3 of this fare, approx CI$7, for each additional persons.

Is it advisable to rent a vehicle?

Renting a vehicle on the island provides additional travel flexiblity and there are many companies to choose from, some will even deliver your vehicle directly to Lacovia. On the Cayman Islands, vehicles drive on the left hand side of the road. For more information here is a listing of rental vehicle companies. Regular bus service is available between Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach, daily, up to midnight. Fares cost CI$1.50 to CI$3.00.

Is it easy to get married in the Cayman Islands?

The Cayman Islands are a perfect location for a destination wedding. If you have pre-arranged for a marriage officer and have applied for a marriage license for non-residents, you can tie the knot the very day you arrive on the island, as long as you do so between 6 am and 8pm.

What are the emergency numbers on Grand Cayman?

What are normal business hours on Grand Cayman?

Hours of operation may vary but generally speaking, banks are open Monday – Friday from 9am-4pm and some banks are open on Saturday from 9am – 12noon. Shopping hours are typically Mon.-Sat. from 9am – 5 pm.

Can I plug in my appliances without an adapter?

In the Cayman Islands, electricity is 110-volt AC. If traveling with US or Canadian appliances, there’s no need to bring adapters.

Do I have to tip at restaurants?

A 10% to 15% tip is appreciated for restaurant or taxi service. However, check your dining bill to avoid double-tipping as some restaurants will include a service fee.

Is the water safe to drink?

Thanks to two desalination plants on Grand Cayman, you will get good-quality purified tap water along Seven Mile Beach.
